Glass LED Diffusers

Because of its uniform thickness, glass provides a very even, smooth light. So, Glass diffusers yield a cozy, high-quality glow and excellent color accuracy. 

They also conduct heat well and will not warp under heat. However, glass diffusers are heavier and more fragile than plastics. They tend to be more expensive.

PC (Polycarbonate) LED Diffusers

Polycarbonate is a very tough, impact-resistant plastic. It is lightweight yet can withstand pressure without bending or cracking. And PC diffusers are popular because they resist heat, scratches, and UV damage better than ordinary plastic. The most straightforward and practical approach is to install the LED strip inside an aluminum extrusion channel with a snap-on or slide-on diffuser cover. These channels often come with frosted or milky covers. This setup evenly spreads the light along the entire length..

Place A Frosted Panel Or Sheet In Front

If you don’t have a channel, you can mount a piece of frosted acrylic, plexiglass, or glass in front of the strip. The LED lights shine through the frosted material, scattering the light. This method is standard in DIY lightboxes or backlit panels.  

For example, sandwich your strip between two pieces of diffuser plastic or attach a frosted sheet over the strip. This will create a uniform glow on the panel surface.

Use Translucent Diffusing Film Or Tape

Another quick solution is to apply a diffusion film or tape over the strip. Such films are semi-opaque plastic sheets that adhere to the strip and blur the light.
